Last week, several members of our team had the opportunity to attend IRI Ops & Tech in New Orleans. We had a great time connecting with old and new friends, hearing about the latest trends and updates in the retirement income industry, and learning about IRI’s current and upcoming initiatives.
At the conference, IFS had the opportunity to participate in a Power Breakfast Session. Travis Champion and Randy Barnes presented “A World of Pure Automation: The Golden Ticket for the Future of the Retirement Income Industry.” The session focused on the reasons why technology adoption is so challenging for insurance firms and how those challenges can be overcome with automation. Travis even brought an original iPhone to demonstrate the importance of taking a platform approach versus adopting one-off products. Stay tuned for an upcoming blog post on that concept.
Attendees of our breakfast sessions shared some of the reasons why technology adoption has been a challenge at their companies. Consistently, regulatory demands, especially DOL, were at the top of the list. Randy and Travis discussed how IFS has helped some of the world’s leading brokerage firms address compliance concerns through our automation solutions, and discussed how Annuva, our new annuity maintenance platform, is doing the same for the insurance space.
Lastly, in the spirit of our Wonka-themed session title, we gave out Wonka Bars and awarded two lucky winners golden tickets for an Amazon gift card. Congratulations to Rachel Smith with Lincoln Financial Group and Jeff Butikofer from Protective Life Insurance Company, our two golden ticket winners!
Perhaps the best (and most fun) part of our time in the Big Easy was the cocktail party we co-hosted with DTCC on Bourbon Street. As DTCC members, we were excited to partner up with the company to host the party together. We had a great turnout and appreciate everyone who came out! Thanks to IRI and everyone who came to our Power Breakfast Sessions and party for making it such a memorable experience. We are already looking forward to next year’s conference!
